Player of the Week: South Carolina’s Daniel Rodrigues became just the tenth player in program history to reach 100 career singles wins over the weekend. He extended his win streak to seven matches with all seven wins coming over ranked opponents, including five in the top-35 – Nos. 18, 19, 21, 25, and 35. Rodrigues is now 16-2 from the No. 1 singles position and has a 12-2 record over ranked opponents. In doubles, Rodrigues is 15-3 from the No. 1 position with a 5-2 record over ranked opponents. He defeated NC State’s Rafa Izquierdo Luque (#82), 6-1, 6-3 in a mid-week contest before then defeating #107 Alex Reco of Arkansas, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Freshman of the Week: Texas A&M’s Giulio Perego went 2-0 on the week in singles, earning his first career ranked win against No. 104 Trent Bryde of Georgia in the last match standing to deliver the first top-10 win for the Aggies this spring. The win was his first on court four of the spring. He opened the weekend with a straight set win against Martin Prata of Tenessee to improve to 6-1 on court five. With the 2-0 weekend against SEC foes, Perego improved to a team-best 5-1 in conference matches. He partnered with Pierce Rollins to defeat Adam Walton and Mark Wallner to help the Aggies claim the doubles point against No. 4 Tennessee.
